The next thing scared
me even more.... My sister kept Bobby for one evening while we had dinner
out. The next day we hear a gun go off in the woods behind the house.
Kids are flying out of the woods in all directions. I caught one
of the boys and asked what was going on and who had the gun?
He told me Bobby had the gun and that another boys dad was back in the
woods too. I don't think that my feet hit the ground until I found
them standing in the woods. The other boy's dad had taken the gun
to his house and called the police. Finally I got Bobby to tell me
where the gun had come from and what had happened in the woods. He
had taken the gun from my sister's house the night before. And that
he had shot it there in the woods. I took Bobby by the arm and dragged
him out of the woods to show me where this other boy lived. Didn't
have to look long there was already a police car in the driveway.
I knock on the door, and the
father lets me in. They are trying to decide what needed to happen
with this situation. Both agreed that since no one was hurt and I
had planned a
good butt paddling when
we got home that would be the end of it.
The officer gave us a ride
home. While doing that he told me about the gun. It was a 45
automatic, and the bullet that was shot was a hollow point bullet. The
vision that ran through my mind was pure horror. That type of bullet
could have taken the head off of any one of those kids in the woods that
day.
When we got to the house, I
called my sister and had her tell the officer that the gun belonged to
her husband. And since he wasn't home, the officer made them bring
the paperwork showing proof of ownership to the station to recover the
handgun. To say the least they were not happy campers.
They tried to place blame on me for not supervising Bobby more. I
place blame on the fact that had they had the guns in a area that was accessible
to kids and had trigger locks on them, that this would have never happened.
My sister and I didn't speak for two years after that.
Things went from bad to worse
from there on......Bobby had the impression that he couldn't get into trouble
no matter what he did. So he got a spanking for stealing a gun. That was
all I could do about it. It was up to my sister and her husband to
file theft charges. Which then they didn't want to get involved with.
We had several other incidents
of stealing, cheating in school, tearing up other peoples property.
It just seemed
to be one thing after another.
Then things between Tim and
I were going bad. Since we couldn't spend any time alone, or even
have dinner out once in awhile. We started going out separately.
Tim would usually go to the casinos or a friends house.
I tended to favor the lil bar
that we first went to. It was a nice place you could sit there and
be left alone. I would stop at the bookstore and buy a magazine or
new book and go and have something to eat while I read my books.
Several months later, Tim seem
to change a bit. Wasn't anything I could pin point....With the problems
with Bobby and his father's health I tried to understand. But it seems
I was understanding it wrong. Our sex life which had always
been very good, hit rock bottom. That was when I figured that he
was seeing someone else. And it didn't take me long to find out.
I followed him one night that
he said he was going to the casino. Well that was not where he ended
up. I saw him pull into a apartment complex and go inside one of
the apartments. So I get the number off the door and hit the managers office.
I wanted to know who was renting that apartment. The manager said
he couldn't tell me, but would say that a single mother with three
kids lived there.
The next day I had Tim meet
me for lunch at work. And I asked him what was going on? He said
that there was nothing going on. I asked who was the woman at the
apartment complex. And he didn't say a word. I sat there looking at him,
getting more and more angry. I asked if he was sleeping with her,
and again he didn't say a word. I knew all the answers to my questions.
I stood up and balled up my fist and hit him. Told him that was it.
Him and his family could go to hell. And I wasn't going to break
my neck taking care of his family while he was out screwing another woman.
I just am not doing it anymore. And he would be the one to explain things
to his father.
